Return gifts are a strange category. You are buying 200 of something for people you may not know well, to be handed over in a moment nobody will remember, and the only measure of success is whether it is still in use six months later.
Most of them are not.
The numbers, roughly
- Quantity: most Indian weddings land between 100 and 300 pieces. Order about 10% over your guest count — there are always more people than the list said.
- Per guest: ₹150–500 is the usual band. Above ₹500 you are into close-family territory and probably buying different things for different groups.
- Lead time: four to six weeks before the date is comfortable. Two weeks is possible for stock items and impossible for anything personalised.
The test that matters
Ask one question of any return gift: where does this live afterwards?
If the honest answer is a cupboard, it has failed regardless of what it cost. Decorative objects with no use, oversized sweets boxes and anything with the couple's names printed large all fail this test. They are given, admired for a moment, and put away.
Things that pass tend to be small, useful and unbranded enough to sit in someone else's home without explaining itself. A coaster. A small steel bottle. Something that ends up on a desk or a kitchen counter rather than in storage.
A note on personalisation
Names and dates printed on the gift feel meaningful when you are ordering and awkward when a guest is using it two years later. If you want the wedding remembered, put it on the packaging or the card, not on the object. The object should be able to outlive the occasion.
What we do
We are a gifting store in Bhuj, Kutch. Our designs come out of the crafts around us — Ajrakh, Rogan, Lippan, Bandhani — drawn by us in the idiom of each and printed by machine, which is what makes 300 matching pieces possible at all.
- Shubh Vivah, Marigold Mandap and Together Always — ₹399 each, designed for favours
- Kutch coaster set of four — ₹899 boxed, for close family and the wedding party
- All coasters — 90 mm square, gloss board or acrylic
Three things to sort before you order
- Decide the split early. Most weddings need two tiers — a simpler gift for the wider guest list and something better for family. Pricing the whole list at one number usually means overspending on 200 people to underspend on 20.
- Confirm the colours against the invitation if that matters to you. It is much easier to pick a design that already works than to ask for a custom one four weeks out.
- Ask about the dispatch date, not the lead time. Wedding dates do not move. Suppliers sometimes do.
Tell us the quantity and the date on WhatsApp and we will price it and tell you honestly whether the date is safe.
