Bandhani — tied before it is dyed.
Bandhani is made backwards: thousands of tiny points of cloth are pinched and bound with thread so the dye cannot reach them. Every dot in the pattern is one knot, tied by hand before the cloth ever meets colour.
We drew this in Bhuj, in the idiom of the craft. It is our drawing — not a reproduction of any artisan's work, and not handmade bandhani.
