Khaarek is worked by counting threads of the weave and filling square after square from the reverse. Nothing is drawn first; the geometry comes out of the cloth itself, which is why it lands so precisely.

We drew this in Bhuj, in the idiom of the craft. It is our drawing — not a reproduction of any artisan's work, and not hand embroidery.
